Pr. Of Georgian Saucers in Technicolour!

£104.00

Made by Hilditch & Sons c. 1820 the colours of these two saucers are particularly joyful! An early producer of English Porcelain, Hilditch was one of a large number of companies that emerged and was subsumed by successors in a relatively short period in the Potteries in Stoke on Trent. Distinguishing your designs from your rivals was an ever necessary task and Hilditch and Sons used a larger number of glaze colours than most. The quality of the glaze adherence to the body wasn’t as you can see as strong as later into the 19th C. but the slight vagueness of the design is something I value about these saucers. Perfect for either side of a bed to put a glass of water on, it’s a jolly scene to see when you raise your glass!
