Persian Qajar Vase c. 1900

Wonderfully hand painted vase with free and vigorous decoration depicting flowers and foliage, executed in blue, green and mauve grey with white and black highlights. You could use this for flowers but I enjoy this sort of ceramic equally as a sculptural form, the irregular hand potted body and the thick glaze feels very earthy and fluid. There is a glaze fault, you can see it in one of the images, but it’s original to the object, something that happened during the firing process. They are not unusual with this type of ceramic and for me I find it adds to the character of the piece!
