For those who have been following my Kashmiri lacquer theme you’ll have guessed straight away that the maker of this bowl is not a kidnap victim of a Greek god, but rather another long established maker in Srinagar. How they came up with their trading names is not recorded, but it hints at a lively competition with Suffering Moses! Fine brush work and scale make this piece particularly pleasing. c.1920
